Introduction
In exercise of the powers conferred by provision to section 4 of the Mental Health Act, 1987 (14 of 1987), the State Mental Health Authority was constituted by Government of Kerala on November 1, 1993 as per the notification No(P) 122 / 93 Health and Family Welfare Department dated 1/11/1993. Later, the Mental Health Act, 1987 got repealed by Mental Healthcare Act, 2017 which came into force on 29.05.2018. In exercise of the powers conferred by section 45 and 46 of the Mental Health Care Act, 2017 (Central Act No.10 of 2017), the Government of Kerala have constituted the State Mental Health Authority
